Master’s Workshop

The Finnish Society for Development Research (FSDR) and Finnish University Partnerships for International Development (UniPID) warmly welcome master’s students to a Master’s thesis workshop organized as part of the Development Days 2022.

Time: 16 February, 2022, 9-12
Location: University of Helsinki, Language Center (Fabianinkatu 26)

The aim of the workshop is to provide master’s students with support and guided discussion on their master’s thesis writing process. This year, the workshop is targeted for students who already have/are familiar with their research material. The stages of writing are of no significance so students in different stages are welcome! The workshop is not organised around a specific theme, and therefore, the students’ research interests can cover a variety of topics and questions.

In the workshop, the students will have a chance to discuss and focus on the analysis process, methodology, ways of thinking with theory and writing up the research findings. The workshop participants will have a chance to share and develop their ideas through group discussions and joint exercises.

The participants are asked to submit short texts, 1- 2 pages, by 31 January. The text can include e.g. a summary of the proposed research/thesis (including some parts of theoretical/conceptual framework, methodology, research questions); thesis outline, and/or an excerpt from the thesis.

The workshop is free, and will last for three hours. The participants can join the workshop in-person or online. The workshop is facilitated by Tuija Veintie (Postdoctoral Researcher, University of Helsinki), Saana Hokkanen (PhD Candidate, University of Helsinki), Omotomilola Ikotun (PhD Candidate, University of Eastern Finland) and Meeri Tiensuu (Specialist, UniPID).
