While academic discussions represent the main work during the conference, there are plenty of opportunities for more informal gatherings and networking.
Coffee is served to conference participants on Thursday morning before the plenary session and on Friday before the Global Citizenship in Action-panel session. There are several lunch restaurants to choose near the conference venue, including the Unicafés at the University of Helsinki.
On Thursday evening there are two social events for conference participants. The first is an evening reception by the vice-rector of the University of Helsinki Johanna Björkroth. Refreshments are served in “Lehtisali” (Teachers’ Lobby) at the University of Helsinki.
Time: 18.30-20.30
Address: “Lehtisali”, Unioninkatu 34, Helsinki (map)
After the reception, there will be an informal gathering in Marian Helmi-bar near the University and the conference venue itself. The gathering begins with a PechaKucha, a new format of presenting and publicly improvising with ideas and experiences. Selected young speakers will narrate on 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds, coming up with a fun and captivating mix of jokes, insights and stories. The program is organized by Avanto Collective.
Time: 21.00-01.30 (bar closes)
Address: Marian Helmi-bar, Snellmaninkatu 17, Helsinki (map)
