Dear FSDR Members,
As we wrap up 2024, let’s take a moment to celebrate the resilience and achievements of our community. This year has tested us with global and domestic political challenges, but it has also been a time of remarkable events and accomplishments for the FSDR, as highlighted in previous newsletters. Most importantly, the FSDR membership has endeavored and accomplished significant research-related work. We have also welcomed several new members who will contribute to sustaining the future of the FSDR.
Many thanks for your unwavering support and participation in our events this year, notably:
- Development Days Conference 2024 on “Crises and Futures of/in Development”
- Kesäpäivät 2024 with a discussion on “The Gaza War: Views from Development Studies”
- Autumn Policy Dialogue on “Finland’s Development Policy for Today: Past Lessons, Future Visions”
- SDG-4 Seminar’s Workshop on “Global Education Policy and Development Cooperation”.
The Annual Report 2024, alongside other organizational matters, will be presented and discussed during our General Assembly meeting on 27 February 2025 at the University of Helsinki. See you there! We also hope that you will consider serving on the FSDR Board for the next term.
In the new year 2025, we look forward to learning with you at the Development Days conference on the theme “Development Transitions: Amidst Waste, Wars, and Maldevelopment”. With your active coordination of working groups and thoughtful paper submissions, it promises to be yet another successful gathering.
